Adding Feedburner RSS Feeds to your WordPress Website
Feedburner is a web feed management provider. It provides Feedburner RSS feeds and management tools to bloggers, podcasters, and other web-based content publishers. If you are not sure what an RSS feed is, or why you should have one, you can read about it in the article – What is an RSS Feed?
Millions of blogs are using Feedburner to update their RSS Feeds. There are various other options out there to use also. I have never had any trouble with it and will continue to use it. It has been said that some of the data isn't as accurate as some of the other systems but as I use Google Analytics for data this is not a concern for me.
Here is a video I created to show you how to add a feed to your WordPress site.
More and more these days I am subscribing to people's RSS feeds rather than signing up to receive their emails. I can read their blogs posts when I want to without my inbox getting filled up with unread mail.
RSS does provide a great opportunity to manage one’s inbox and still get to read your favourite blogs. Thanks for the reminder, Stacey!
You make such a good point about subscribing to feeds. My inbox is so overloaded that I can’t keep up with it.
No – I couldn’t either and I find it much better this way. Plus it is better for the writer as well as I am more likely to share it out when I read it in my reader than in an email.
I am in the process of moving to a WP website and blog, and can’t wait! This will help.
While I personally prefer getting email subscriptions for the key ones I follow, RSS feeds have their place, and I am anxious to make them available to my readers.
How did you integrate the Twitter box code on the page?
Yes, I do still subscribe to some people. Also, a lot of people put different information in their emails than on their blogs.
It is a plugin called tweet anywhere.
Thanks for taking the time to create this video! As I make the transition to word press any and all help is sooo appreciated:)
Stacey, I hear ya about the overcrowded email inbox! Thanks for the video demystifying adding RSS to WordPress.
Stacey – You do such a great job of explaining how to do this and walking through the process. And I also appreciate the info on Google, too. I had such problems with my RSS feed last fall and wonder if this had anything to do with it. Oh well, seems to be working now!
