Timeline for Business Pages
– Creating Quite a Buzz

Well, Facebook has done it again. Made a massive change that has everyone in a whirl.  The latest: timelines for Facebook Pages, just like they have on the profile pages.

There were literally hundreds of blog articles appearing yesterday.  I have looked through and found the best of them for you.

Here you will find Facebook's own tutorial – https://www.learnfacebookpages.com/.

It starts with a brief overview and then goes into more detail.

Likeable Media put out a great post written by Cara Friedman. Aptly named:

Everything You Need To Know (And More) About Facebook Timelines For Brands

It lays out all of the changes with a brief description of each.

One of the most interesting things and important to note are the restrictions on what you can put in your cover image.

I am going to wait a bit before changing over as I want to get all of my graphics prepared first. I think like with most things on Facebook, once we get used to them we like them.

  1. I like and also dislike the changes. The main like about this is the cover photo, the dislike is the strange and controlling terms they have put on it.

    It’s disappointing to see the landing tab feature gone, but I guess it lifts the game.

    The pages also appear quite odd with the format. I think some improvements will be made though into the future.

    The message system is a plus, although I would still keep my contact tab for now, just to see which contact method people prefer. I know some people have told me they’d rather not let a business know their FB profile, so the contact tab still plays an important role.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that there are some things to like and some things that will take a bit of getting used to.

      We will have to wait and see how it all pans out.

  2. I really deeply dislike the changes from a personal point of view – and I don’t use Facebook for business. I like to keep personal and professional life separate. I find it difficult to follow the latest updates on other people’s profiles and I really resent having the changes imposed upon me. I am seriously considering leaving Facebook because of that. Except that it is a way to keep in touch with people I haven’t seen in years, who are remotely based.
